Alternative provision has been established slowly over the last few terms.
It was started to support the Young People who find accessing education in a class group difficult either because of the distractions of a bigger group or because they are unable to access the curriculum fully due to their specific learning needs.
ALP offers a more varied curriculum with the hope of re-engaging the most challenged and therefore challenging students.
In ALP we want to provide a nurture unit environment with our main focus on helping the students to gain the best level of literacy and numeracy that they can. The young people will also be taught sports, Forrest school activities, construction, gardening, job experience, cookery and be involved with work experience opportunities.
It is our hope that with the right support the Young People that access our Alternative Provision will learn skills and gain an education that will allow them to access higher learning opportunities or job opportunities, and that their anxiety towards school will lessen.
